Australia 2020 Summit
A long-term national health strategy has been proposed following countless submissions to address the prominent issues of obesity, chronic disease management, the threat of new communicable diseases, an ageing population and the ever-growing burden of mental illness.
In particular, the initial report findings suggest that our ageing population will significantly increase future demand for health care. By 2036, it is projected that one quarter of Australians will be over 65. Current health funding remains ovewhelmingly focused on treatment rather than prevention. Access to all health services are limited and varies significantly across communities.
We acknowledge the importance of this recent landmark Summit, which brought about the opportunity for everyone here at Central Line Health to contribute, along with the rest of Australia, in developing creative solutions for the challenges of future preventative health.
